Dharmesh Mahajan is a seasoned leader in Technology strategy, Business Development and Strategic Execution with 25 years of expertise in Sustainable Fuels and Green Chemicals. He is spearheading multi-billion-dollar Future Energy initiatives at ESSAR, and drives technology strategy for the ESSAR Group companies across Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), FAME Biodiesel, Biomass to Bio-Char, Alcohol-to-Jet (ATJ), Tire Pyrolysis Oil production and Power-to-X (PtX) fuels and Sustainable Chemicals.

Currently, he is driving Phase 1 of the upcoming India project building 1 MMTPA HEFA SAF Biorefinery scheduled for start-up in 2028 and doing due diligence for Phase 2, that involves 1 MMTPA Biomass to SAF / Sustainable Diesel pathway along with 500 KTPA ATJ project. He is also leading technical, project execution and negotiation strategies of Group’s investment in a Biomass-to-Bio-Char production Start-up named Ground-Up.

Dharmesh is also at the forefront of diligence and deployment of advanced and emerging pathways—including E-Methanol, LOHC, Gas Fermentation ETJ and MTJ across India and the UK sites—supporting ESSAR’s decarbonization roadmap.

Dharmesh has been contributing towards Bio-based Circular Economy solutions for Aviation, Transport, Energy sectors across continents for more than two decades now. He has regularly advised top consulting firms (AT Kearney, Mckinsey, Bain etc), as well as top Refining majors across continents, primarily Europe, Asia Pacific and North America, for their Renewable Fuel and Low Carbon technology pathway related Impact investment strategies and M&A initiatives.

He has been involved in decision-making roles for the Low Carbon Bio-refinery project investments and M&A activities worth over US$ 5+ Billion in recent years across the globe.

He is an invited member of the National Committee on Bio-Energy founded by TPCI (Trade Promotion Council of India), and has been a member of MoPNG’s IEW Technical Committee for Biofuel & Bio-Energy since 2024. He has also served as the member of CII National Bio-Energy Taskforce in India in the past. Besides that, Dharmesh has also served as a Government Relations Ambassador for Fortune 100 company Honeywell Inc. in the past, managing their GR and Policy Advocacy activities focused on Energy, Sustainability, and Environmental technologies and policy decision-making for various countries.

Dharmesh is a Chemical Engineer with Distinction from NIT Surat, Gujarat in India and a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt Auditor. He has also attended Management Development Program in Finance at IIM Bangalore.
