Lokesh Chandra (IAS) is the Chairman and Managing Director of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), Mumbai. He assumed charge on 2 June 2023.

A 1993-batch Indian Administrative Service officer, Shri Chandra brings over three decades of experience across urban governance, infrastructure development, and public sector leadership. Prior to joining MSEDCL, he served as General Manager of BEST Undertaking, Mumbai, where he played a key role in strengthening public transport and urban utility operations.

Shri Chandra holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and an M.Tech in Structures from IIT Delhi, combining strong technical grounding with administrative expertise.

Over the course of his career, he has held several senior leadership positions, including Chairman and Managing Director of CIDCO and Commissioner of Nagpur Municipal Corporation. He has also served as District Collector of Nagpur, Bhandara, and Gondia, and as President of the Nagpur Improvement Trust, overseeing large-scale urban and regional development initiatives.

Between 2008 and 2015, Shri Chandra served with the Government of India, holding positions as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Steel and Director in the Ministry of Power, where he was closely involved in national policy formulation and sectoral reforms.
